Kissproof puts Beirut in a cocktail. The new kid on the mixo block has a fairly low-key interior design, suffused with carmine, which creates the strange impression of lounging around in a film by Gaspar Noé, or Wong Kar-Wai for the more romantic types. The loud speakers, cornered by the great names of indie rock, offer assurance when you go to order. Lebanon is never far away, though. The cocktails are skilfully crafted and tinged with sweet memories of Beirut, which the kitchen staff knowingly partners with appetising small plates. It’s worth the climb, promise!
